Yankee Stadium :: Yankees vs. Indians, 6/25/12

Well, it’s now the house that George built (Steinbrenner the Third, that is), and not the house that Ruth built, but Yankee Stadium does not disappoint in its grandeur, aura, and classic-ness. After yet another long day of walking and seeing the famous sights here in New York City, Gregg and I were very much looking forward to the respite that a baseball game provides. There’s nothing much better than sitting down in your seats, and knowing you have the next few hours to talk and laugh together, or just sit in relative silence as you watch, listen, smell, and take in all that is around you. Since visiting Yankee Stadium is a rare opportunity, we both relished the time in this Bronx Cathedral.

Uptown Boys

Sleep, sleep, wonderful sleep. If there is one thing that has been lacking on our trip, it has been sleep. This morning was only one of two days that we didn’t have to wake up early and get on the train. We took that opportunity to catch up on some much needed Z’s and slept in until about 10:45am. By 11:40 we were on our way to Yankee stadium for our tour at 12:40. We got off the subway right on time, but had to run to the ticket window to pick up our tour passes.

We’ve Got…Two Tickets to Paradise!

Now that you have that Eddie Money song stuck in your head, it’s time for us to talk about the most exciting part of our trip…the GAMES! We’ve blogged briefly about schedules, budgets, plane flights, train tickets, and so on (and we’ll have one more post about our accommodations before we leave), but the most important purchases are the game tickets. You can see in this sweet picture that we have two tickets to each game of our Northeast Swing! Not pictured are the three tickets that my good friend, Todd, has already thrown down for in Boston at Fenway…what a guy!! Instead of playing the scalping game, we opted to pre-purchase all our tickets ahead of time on StubHub, using our trusty Ultimate Baseball Road Trip book as a guide.
